Free spins as a game feature

Many slots include a bonus round of free spins. Land the required scatter symbols and the game awards a set number of spins without deducting a stake. During the round, there may be extra features such as growing multipliers, sticky wilds or retriggers that add more spins.

The spins run at the bet level you had when the round started. The wins are added to your balance as normal, with no extra conditions beyond the game's own rules. A brand can also give you a number of free spins on certain slots as a promotion. This is a bonus with terms, similar to a deposit offer. Promotional spins are only as good as their conditions. Look for these items in the rules.

• Which games the spins can be used on.
• The value of each spin, since small stakes mean small potential wins.
• Turnover or wagering on the winnings before they can be withdrawn. See wagering requirements.
• A cap on how much can be withdrawn from free spin winnings.
• The time window to use the spins and to complete turnover.
• Whether the offer needs a code; see promo codes.

A worked example

Say a promotion gives 20 free spins at ৳10 each, with winnings carrying a 20x turnover. The spins cost you nothing, and say they win ৳200 in total. Before withdrawing, you would have to wager 20 x ৳200 = ৳4,000. Because every bet carries a house edge, grinding through that turnover usually erodes much of the ৳200. The numbers are an illustration, not a real offer.

If a cap of, say, ৳500 applied, any extra winnings would be removed. None of this makes free spins bad. It just means the headline number is not the final value. Compare it with the cost of simply playing with plain cash. Also remember that bonus balance and cash balance are often tracked separately, and a promotion may cancel if you withdraw before finishing the turnover.
